Oh No, Not another alien invasion. This is what comes to your mind when you think of Universe at War. Thankfully things are a bit different. There are some excellent graphics and effects which make this game a shade above its predecessors. Unlike its ancestors it plays differently for each faction. The types of weapon and modes of travel also vary with each faction.
The Novus come to rescue the Humans from a hostile alien attack by Hierarchy. But the fight is not going to be two sided. Masaris, another force, which is lying dormant on the planet is a awakened by the fight. Masaris prove to be ultimately the more dangerous force.
Novus are the hit and run experts. As a single player you can befriend them when you play earth forces. You can instantly transfer armies from one power node to other.
Hierarchy are the bad guys. Their powers center around walkers. They can spawn troops from Pods and are armed with many powerful weapons. They follow a brute force approach.
The Masari have fewer units when compared to Novus and Hierarchy. Their units are costlier and more powerful. The Masaris build batteries slowly. They have the option of going light or dark.
All three factions have heroes of their own. If your hero dies the game is over.
This is a very good game and a must try for all RTS fans. A downside is the inability to zoom out of battles. The game will really keep you engaged and addicted.
